Just Some Thoughts that Have Come to Mind.......

[To Articles]

My faith in Christ has always been an initiating and motivating factor in my work. And while the images I have produced over the years have not been overtly “Christian”.... (with the exception of “The Cross” series) ... my walk with the Lord has, nevertheless, influenced my heart, my hand and my eye in other not so obvious ways.

It is in this regard, ...(for those who may be interested)... that I would like to share some personal thoughts and observations about my faith, about God's Word and about my work.

About the photographs......

In many of the “Just Thinking” pieces below I have included photographs that I have taken. Sometimes the photos were catalysts for the thoughts, and sometimes the thoughts served as catalysts for the photos.....

Many of the images taken at the water's edge may, at first glance, seem to be somewhat confusing. (for example here and here) . Many have told me that they assumed that these images had been “photo-shopped”. But they are not photo-shopped. (I don't know how to photo-shop!)

The images are simply interwoven and intersecting 'realities' ....surface , sub-surface and reflections of things above.

Oh yes! About those poems......

In most of the “Just Thinking” meditations/essays I have included poems that have come to mind. Please understand that I hesitate to call these efforts “poetry”. Several years ago, a friend said to me (with a good-natured wink) :

"Aha! Dr. Seuss does the Gospel!”

I took my friend's comment as a compliment.

So while these word constructions and rhyming schemes may be poetically unsophisticated, I do hope that they are, at least....(ahem).....”accessible”.
