Yes, The Prophets Saw Him Coming

Fools will dismiss it, skeptics will doubt it, and mockers will scoff at it, but the true, living and eternal God of all creation opened a window of light into this dark, fallen, and time-bound world and spoke a laser-like beam of Hope into it. In the Old Testament, God truly projected a glorious, cross-shaped, prophetic “shadow” into and through Jewish history, a shadow that spread across the landscape of the Levant. It was there that God introduced His Righteous plan of redemption for all of humanity …. a gift of Amazing Grace given birth into the world through the nation of Israel,…the gift of God incarnate, Prophet, Priest, and King. God provided a Savior.

All the prophets saw Him coming….and they saw Him coming still.

“…..for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow.”
—1Peter 9-11

Yes, The Prophets Saw Him Coming

God of Glory cast a Shadow:
Pentateuch to Malachi…
Moses wrote of Him in Eden1
And when Isaac didn’t die.2

Prophets spoke of Him foreshadowed
As that first Passover Lamb3
Blood applied for man’s redemption…
Burning bush, the Word, I AM.

He was pictured in the desert
In the midst of wand’ring souls…
There!...God’s sacrificial system….
In a cloud the Truth unfolds.

There the story was presented
In that tabernacle tent.
There His Grace and there His Glory…
Truth Incarnate to be sent.

Law and Grace there found expression
Revelation!….Reason’s rhyme.
Yes, the Prophets saw Him coming
Down the corridor of Time.

Theirs’ the gift true God has given…
Theirs’ the Blessing we’ve received.
Theirs’ the Holy Door discovered…
Abram heard it…and believed4.

Did you notice Him in Joseph?
There the Savior was displayed5...
There the Bread of Life provided.....
Brethren then by Grace amazed6.

Prophet Daniel knew the timing7,
Prophet Micah knew just where8
Yes, Isaiah saw the suff’ring9
Of God’s Lamb our sins to bear10.

David witnessed Him triumphant11,
Malachi was shown the end12
Ruth as well has told His story,
Yes, when Boaz took her in13.

May God’s Spirit find us willing…
May the hungry heart still seek14.
Give us Faith, Lord, Abrahamic15
To believe the Word You speak16.

Help us follow, Lord, this shadow17
To the Glory of the Son…
May the Pride of skepticism
Once for all be overcome.

Make us meek, indeed, like Moses18,
Make us tremble…Make us quake19.
May we mourn like Jeremiah…
For our sins… for Heaven’s sake.

Let there be a new beginning,
Let there be light once again20!
God of Glory and Creation,
Give us Faith to see our sin.

“For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit “
