Cruise the Neo-Pagan Waters

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.”
—2 Timothy 4: 1-5 (St. Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ)

"We're moments away. I think the culture is already there. And the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense,"
—Rob Bell (apostle of Oprah)

Cruise the Neo-Pagan Waters

Rob Bell climbs into the crow’s nest,
First Mate Oprah gazes east,
Goddess Gaia in the galley
Stirring up a New Age Feast.

Cruise the Neo-Pagan waters…
Just be happy! Have your way!
Yep, it’s time to do your own thing! …
Test the winds!...It’s A-OK!,

On the good ship “House Divided”
Captained by The Inner Child…
Quite unmoored from Truth and Virtue
Set adrift…mile after mile.

Navigation by “good feelings”,
Sailing where we darn well please,
Sunning on the Deck of Pleasures,
Soaking up Aposta-Seas!

We’ve abandoned map ‘n’ sextant,
Winds of Change we’re trusting now…
Yes, my friend, we’re making headway!
(Big Grin, Smiley Face… and how!)

Proudly tacking into darkness,
Compass?....Hey, man, there’s no need!
We’re not quite sure where we’re going,
But who cares?...We’re gaining speed!

We’re convinced we’re making “progress”
Toward just what…well, who’s to say?
We believe if we keep moving,
Everything will be OK!

No more True North for direction,
We’re the Rudderless ‘n’ Proud…
Sailing out here East of Eden,
While remaining still unbowed

In this Current Liberalism
There’s no Anchor yet in sight,
We can’t fathom Good or Evil…
Nor, my friend, no wrong or right.

Sailing blind into the Fog Bank
Of the Vague, Unsure and Blurred…
Trusting in our Wishful Thinking…
Tossing overboard God’s Word.

Aimless drift in lukewarm water,
Spirit Doldrums take their toll…
Yes, the issue’s quite Titanic,
While the Gospel’s left untold.

Sailing ‘round in mindless in circles,
Seems to be our Master Plan…
Feeding flesh, desire and senses,
While the flames of hell are fanned.

Hoist the Sail of Good Intentions!
Disregard those rocky straits!….
On this Ocean of Deception,
Satan smirks….(and simply waits).

Father, thank you for the Anchor,
Father, thank you, for the Word,
Thank You for this Faith born in us,
Truth poured out through what we’ve heard.

Thank You for the Word of Truth, Lord,
Thank You for that precious Gift!…
Take us to the Cross of Calv’ry,
May we there, Lord, catch your drift!
