She’s a Bombshell…Detonating

“Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!
She has become a dwelling place for demons,
a haunt for every unclean spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast.

For all nations have drunk
the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality,
and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her,
and the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living.”

Then I heard another voice from heaven saying,

“Come out of her, my people,
lest you take part in her sins,
lest you share in her plagues;
for her sins are heaped high as heaven,
and God has remembered her iniquities.”
(Revelation 18: 2-5)

In the final, climactic book of the Bible (the Book of Revelation), there is a description of a woman designated as “the Mother of Prostitutes” (also cryptically referred to as “Mystery, Babylon”). Most Bible-believing students of Scripture recognize this “woman” to be the embodiment of false religion, religion that deceives, corrupts, leads astray and ends, ultimately in condemnation….that is, in eternal separation from the Creator and source of life and all that is good, just, pure and holy.

Spiritual adultery is nothing new, of course. Jesus told Nicodemus that all of mankind is, currently, under the deadly, sinful bondage and intoxicating spell of this adulteress. Jesus told the honest and inquisitive Pharisee that mankind, languishing in the arms of this spiritual prostitute, is “condemned already” (John 3:18).

“Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

Jesus and Nicodemus

He told Nicodemus that we, as sons and daughters of Adam, are born into this blind and wayward condition… (aka. the politically incorrect notion of “original sin”)… and that to escape the consequences of this condemnation we must be “born again”. That is, we must be “re-born” spiritually from above.

Of course today, we, the intelligent, scientific sophisticates of this post-modern era, foolishly claim to know better than Jesus …..

Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
and to insight, “You are my relative.”
They will keep you from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words.
(Proverbs 7: 4-5)

She’s a Bombshell…Detonating

She’s got charms that span the ages,
She’s a killer… she’s a whore.
She was present, son, at Babel,...
She's still with us like before.

She’s a dwelling place for demons,
She’s got plagues with you to share,
She will offer you her riches
In this kingdom of the air.

With a wink she’ll call you hither…
Yes, and with a coo, persuade.
She will beckon you to join her
In the bed that Adam made.

She’s got baubles to your liking,
Idol pleasures to entice,
She’s appealing to the senses…
You can have her…for a price*.

She’s a mistress of deception,
She’s a master of deceit…
She won’t rest until she snares you,
And her wicked plan’s complete.

She’s a Pride-appealing temptress,
And she loves to wine and dine!
She’s an expert Truth-corrupter…
She’s a deadly concubine.

Step right into her seduction,
She’s got everything you need!
She’s a teaser and a pleaser…
Satisfaction guaranteed!

Listen to her sultry whisper
Selling tricks that never end.
She can show you worlds of pleasure...
She’s your perfect “lady friend”.

She’s a popular attraction,
And she knows just how you feel…
She’s got good times, she’s a-glitter,
And your life she wants to steal.

Myst’ry, Babylon continues
She’s adept at casting spells…
She’s a bombshell…detonating,
And she’ll blow you straight to hell.

She comes riding on a dragon,
She’s a counterfeit…a fake…
Turn away from her corruption,
Seek the Truth, for heaven’s sake!

Father, help us heed the Bridegroom,
The true lover of the soul…
Give us Grace to hear Him calling
Wayward sheep into his fold.

Give us ears to hear the Truth, Lord…
Give us Grace to know we’re lost,
Holy Spirit, give us wisdom,
Call your Bride, Lord, to the Cross.

“ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
— (John 3: 16)
