May We First Seek the True Source of Beauty

“One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple”. –Psalm 27:4

“The crystal rivers and murmuring streams are the footsteps of His favor, grace, and beauty. When we behold the light and brightness of the sun, the golden edges of an evening cloud, or the beauteous bow, we behold the adumbrations of His glory and goodness; and, in the blue sky, of His mildness and gentleness. There are also many things wherein we may behold His awful majesty, in the sun in His strength, in comets, in thunder, in the hovering thunder-clouds, in ragged rocks, and the brows of mountains.”

–Jonathan Edwards

May We First Seek the True Source of Beauty

May we follow His footsteps of Glory

To the Cross where the victory’s won.

May we bask in the Light of his favor,

And the Grace of his now risen Son.

Yes, the beauty of nature enthralls us….

But the nature of Beauty’s the key.

When we gaze at the wonders around us,...

This is Grace from The Word we can’t see.

May the nature of Beauty astound us

Even more than the beauty of dawn.

May we first seek the true Source of Beauty,

Then to love Him before we are gone.

May we hear The Word whispered in Beauty

On the shoreline before we depart...

May the Bride hear His gentle proposal.

Will the Bridegroom here capture her heart?

Will we bow to his love in submission

As He bowed in his love at the Cross?

Might we learn there what Love truly looks like1?

Could we ever, friend, fathom the cost2?
