Only True Jehovah-Phobics

"Conversion of St. Paul", Gustave Dore

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
—Proverbs 9:10

The shepherds quaked. The prophet Ezekiel fell on his face as though dead. The Apostle John, on the island of Patmos, did the same.

Adam, Moses, Isaiah and Saul of Tarsus felt the awe-full weight of God’s Presence and Glory. God’s Holiness, we are told, is a consuming fire. From Genesis to Revelation, God’s Glory crashes into the hearts and souls of unsuspecting, sinful men. And the result was always the same.

“When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”—Revelation 1: 17-18

Lord, may it be for us today as well, in this jaded, degraded, sin-filled world where You are so blindly and casually brushed aside and/or completely dismissed. We much prefer the Lamb. We much prefer to hide from the light of Truth. We much prefer the darkness.

(Lord, have mercy….)

“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.”
—Isaiah 33:6

"Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined!" (Isaiah 6: 1-6)

Only True Jehovah-phobics…
(Will Find Wisdom at Their Door)

Only true Jehovah-phobics,
Will find wisdom at their door.
Only true Jehovah-phobics
Will see sin so long ignored.

Only true Jehovah-phobics,
Will begin to know they’re lost;
Only true Jehovah-phobics
Will bow down before The Cross.

Only true Jehovah-phobics,
Will detect the soul’s disease;
Only true Jehovah-phobics,
Can be picked up from their knees.

Only true Jehovah-phobics,
Can find peace and Sabbath rest;
Only true Jehovah-phobics,
Will find joy and know they’re blessed.

Only true Jehovah-phobics,
Will see the Father’s Holy face…
Only true Jehovah-phobics,
Will comprehend the Lamb of Grace.

May the weight , Lord, of Your Glory
Press upon us awe-full fear.
Then by Grace and Revelation
Make the Truth of Calv’ry clear.

May we tremble in Your Presence,
May we quake at what we see,
May your Holy Spirit draw us…
May He drive us to our knees.

Father, please come near to lift us,
From our state by sin undone…
Help us hear…by Grace…your whisper:
“Child, fear not, …Come home, my son!”

"Prodigal Son", Rembrandt

”This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”
—John 3: 19-21
