Tom Graffagnino in Ideas Have Consequences, Richard Weaver, deconstructionism, evil, relativism

“Hysterical optimism will prevail until the world again admits the existence of tragedy, and it cannot admit the existence of tragedy until it again distinguishes between good and evil. . . Hysterical optimism as a sin against knowledge.”- Richard M. Weaver (“Ideas Have Consequences”)

Moral Relativity

Since we deconstructed evil

To mean “sometimes pretty good”.

We’ve discovered that “Whatever”

Has replaced both “ought” and “should”.

You might think that’s really tragic,

But we’re happy as can be!

We’re ecstatic ‘bout The Game Plan:

Moral Relativity.

Now that right is what we’re doing,

We’re an optimistic lot.

Yes, Nirvana’s fast approaching

Now that evil’s really not.
