Let’s Give Marx Another Look-See

Fidel Castro, Cuba's champion of tolerance and brutal Communist dictator, died recently. By many of the progressively, Left-ish persuasion, Mr. Castro is being fondly remembered, presumably for his… (ahem)…. “good intentions” rather than for the decades-long pandemic poverty, religious suppression, torture, ruined lives and bloodshed that he left in his wake.

Case in point, these glowing words of praise from Canadian Prime Minister,Justin Trudeau:

“Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro’s supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for ‘el Comandante.’”

Thankfully, Mr. Trudeau’s sugar-coated myopic and delusional appraisal of Cuba’s notorious strongman was effectively and justly critiqued:

“El Comandante”: The term drips with affection, doesn’t it? Castro’s “detractors”? Would those be the families of the thousands he had executed? The survivors of Castro’s Caribbean gulag? Those who didn’t drown trying to escape?”

Let’s Give Marx Another Look-See

“El Comandante” Castro…
We were grieved to hear you passed!
How, Big Brother, …we adored you!
And the shadow that you cast!

Idol Progress makes a comeback,
Good intentions mean we care.
Let’s give Marx another look-see…
Peace 'n' Love is in the air!

This is what “religion” looks like
In this fallen world, my friend…
Our Fidel-ity can fix it!
Work, work, work… and then pretend.

We say: “Surely God’s approving!”…
Let's give Mao another shot!
The Utopiates are stirring
Idol Pols in every Pot.

Lord, we've traveled down this broad way
O, so many times before!
Give us Grace to hear the Good News...
Truth our darkened hearts1 deplored2.

Lord, have mercy....

"....and He did."

1 “For although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” – Romans 1:21

2 “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.”- John 3:19
